THE SPANISH GENIUS OF THE LAST DECADE

Lluís Llongueras

Lluís Llongueras was a pioneer and innovator in the field of hairdressing, a field where he literally started from scratch. At the age of 13 she started sweeping in a hairdressing salon.

His passion for his profession led him to dare to cut the hair of his own aunt, who went down in history as his first client. From there, decades of career established him as a professional created from the ground up who would leave a mark before and after in the field.

In addition to being a hairdresser, Llongueras will be remembered as a passionate artist. Associated with personalities such as Dali, his creative passion was not limited to combs and scissors. Lluís was a genius sculptor, painter, writer, poet, photographer and musician.

He was the forerunner for hairdressing to rise to this status of art. Thanks to him, it is considered more than a practical exercise, it becomes a whole artistic discipline that allows itself to be influenced by other worlds such as music, painting or goldsmithing.

Painting offers him an additional way to channel his creativity and explore various forms of artistic expression.

Photo

His photograph plays with the darkness of the fragments of a woman’s body touched by a light.

His forms speak of the future of aesthetics, the ambiguity of what is hidden and the obviousness of what accumulates. A sensual image that challenges the natural nature of the woman.

LLUÍS AS

KOMMOTIS

Lluís had already settled in Paris, from where he spread the new fashion around the world. A city creator of all the mutations and the evolution of the New Commedia, of which it was one of the creators of the huge explosion caused by the arrival of the liberal society. The man and woman now know that they are free, unconstrained, both spiritually and physically. A historic moment for fashion, in which slovenly hippie fashions clashed with elegant French chic.

LLUÍS AND

THE WOMAN

Lluís Llongueras was one of the people who took it upon themselves to liberate women in Spain in the 1960s. As he told the media, “I unmoored Spain to free the woman”.

He was always ahead of the feminist movements and in the 1960s he was already fighting and defending equal wages between men and women in his salons. It shocked him to see different salaries.

Moreover, he always saw (and defended) woman as a being of individual beauty. She managed to promote a beauty with character, eliminating the corset that hairdressing had in those years, when women all had their hair styled the same way, following the aesthetics that were in fashion.

He advocated the opposite, an individual beauty. Lluís believed that each woman is unique, creating a haircut or style for each of them. It is hairdressing that adapts to the woman and not the other way round. An absolute revolution.
